Elizabeth “Betsy” Bauer ’06; Cheryl Griswold ’95; Lynn Pigliacampi Matula and her Father Jules Pigliacampi (2005-18) make up the class of the 2019 that will be inducted into the Cedar Crest College Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, September 27 in Lees Hall.
In addition to honoring our newly inducted Hall of Fame members we will celebrate our 2018-2019 Athlete of the Year and Rookie of the Year nominees and announce the winners.
This year’s Hall of Fame inductees include:
Elizabeth “Betsy” Bauer-Lenhart, who graduated in 2006, was a four-year member of the volleyball squad. Bauer was earned a spot on the All-PAC (Pennsylvania Athletic Conference) Second Team during her junior and senior seasons as a hitter. Bauer currently holds the number-one spot in the Cedar Crest Volleyball Record Book for solo blocks in a season and career, as well as total blocks in a season and career. Bauer also sits in fourth overall in career kills.
Cheryl Griswold, a 1995 graduate, was a four-year standout for the Cedar Crest Cross Country program. Griswold was the first conference champion is school history, finishing first in the PAC Championship during her sophomore season in 1992. A three-time All-Conference recipient, Griswold was the top finisher for the Classics in all competitions during her tenure and received the Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (LVAIAW) Senior Athlete of the Year. Griswold was also selected to the PAC-CSAC 25th Anniversary Team for her performance with the Black and Yellow.
Lynn Pigliacampi Matula and her Father Jules Pigliacampi were at the helm of the Cedar Crest Tennis program from 2005-2018. Lynn became the winningest coach in school history. Coach Pigliacampi took her program to the Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Playoffs four times and coached her student-athletes to 30 All-Conference awards and 18 Weekly Awards. Coach Pigliacampi claimed the 2008 United States Tennis Association (USTA) Eastern Pennsylvania College Coach of the Year and 2009 CSAC Coach of the Year.
Jules Pigliacampi was the Assistant Tennis Coach at Cedar Crest College and was a generous supporter of the college for 14 years. He brought tremendous knowledge and match-play experience to the position, and over the years, instilled that knowledge inspiring so many players to be the best they could be with his humor, honesty, and genuine affection for every player he coached.
The event will be held in Lees Gymnasium with the Reception at 6:00 PM followed by the Induction Ceremony at 6:30 PM.
